these were all done using a cone of henna…

my only issue with doing the designs this way is that it makes my thumb TIRED from the steady pressure that i apply during the process to get a decent looking line

i’ve found in my research that using one of the plastic bottles that they use for silk screening is the way to get the ultra tiny lines and such and possibly a way for me to avoid thumb fatigue…when i get my hands on some i’ll let you guys know!

peacock wooing peahen

peacock wooing peahen

one of my clients told me the most HILARIOUS story!

she and her sister were riding along on a country road

and they see a peacock…

her sister pulled over IMMEDIATELY!

my client says to her WHAT are you doing?

her sister responds by saying…I GOTTA GET SELEWA SOME PEACOCK FEATHERS!

DON’T YOU WANT SOME FEATHER EARRINGS???

i stopped her mid-story…

me: WAIT! the peacock was ALIVE???

client: yes

me: it wasn’t like passed out on the side of the road or anything?

client: no…it was just walking across the street

me: so she was going to get out and wrestle this bird down and pull feathers out of its tail?

client: yes…but i was able to convince her that that was a scary and dangerous thing to do

me: *laughing so hard that tears were rolling down my face*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i am HONORED that she loves my work enough to risk life and LIMB to get feathers for earrings BUT…
ladies and gents
i already have peacock feathers ready and waiting for your peacock feather jewelry needs!
PLEASE don’t molest any peacocks in your pursuit of selewa products…
the feathers that i have were discarded once the peacock was finished courting…
i don’t want to destroy the love life of some poor peacock over a pair of earrings
i’ve already got you covered…
you place the order
and i’ll make it happen
xoxo
I think men who have a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage. They’ve experienced pain and bought jewelry.
